Cedric Torres, a Grade 11 student at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall (SJSH), is being honoured by the Rotary Club of North Bay as one of a dozen local student youth leaders in the area.   The Rotary Officials recently held their annual Great Student Awards presentation, with Cedric being one of many students recognized for embodying the Rotary International’s motto, “Service Above Self.” The Rotary Club looked to the local high school students as inspiring young leaders, committed to ensuring the benefits of volunteerism and commitment.

Nominated from within the SJSH community for the Rotary Great Student Awards, Cedric volunteers with the Hospital Elder Life program at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, while striving to eventually become a nurse. Through these actions, Cedric models himself as a collaborative contributor and caring family member who finds meaning and vocation in work that respects the rights of all and contributes to the common good.
