At its regular meeting held June 27, 2023, the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) approved its 2023-2024 budget of $59,777,639 for submission to the Ministry of Education. The budget focuses on programs and services that directly benefit students and is compliant with Ministry of Education balanced budget legislation. The estimated operating expenditures are $55,692,007 and capital and non-operating expenditures are estimated to be $4,085,632.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we extend gratitude to our administration and staff for planning and presenting a detailed and responsible budget with many key enhancements to support innovative and foundational learning in the service of our students for the upcoming school year,” said Board Chair, Shawn Fitzsimmons. “With this budget, our Board is well positioned for continued success with strong leadership and staff who continue to support the realization and achievement of the Board’s strategic ENDS outcomes for our students. We look forward to another successful and exciting year ahead,” he added.

NPSC’s 2023-2024 budget reflects a projected enrolment increase and represents several areas of intentional focus to support student learning, including new and continued programs and services which are aligned with Ontario’s Better Student Outcomes strategy. Significant enhancements in the areas of Reading Instruction, Mathematics, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Special Education, and Mental Health & Well-being are included to support all schools. In the next school year, the Board is excited to continue enhancements to the Indigenous Studies program at secondary, as well as a variety of student engagement initiatives in both panels. The Hockey Canada Skills Academy program at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall has expanded for September 2023 following a very successful inaugural year.

“We are pleased to approve a balanced budget that reflects a high-degree of fiscal responsibility and effective stewardship of the Board’s resources to benefit our students,” stated Board Vice-Chair, Barbara McCool.
