NPSC Schools Host FIRST® LEGO League Fair
Posted on 11/23/2022

We are thrilled to be hosting FIRST® LEGO League Class Pack Fair at several NPSC schools!

New this year to NPSC classrooms, the FIRST® LEGO League Class pack program is a great option for teachers wanting to offer a high-quality, project-based-learning environment to their students while implementing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills. Guided by teachers through innovation and creativity, students develop an innovative solution to a real-world problem, and design, build, and code a LEGO® robot to solve themed challenge missions.

Peter Anello, Technology-Enabled Learning Facilitator for K-12, states: “We are fortunate this past spring that our application to participate in the FIRST Robotics Canada C.O.R.E. (Creating Opportunities for Robotics Equity) initiative, made possible by the FIRST STEM Equity Community Innovation grant and designed to promote the use of Class Packs in schools, was accepted."

The media and parents are invited to attend the fairs in the schools (schedule below), where student work and robotics challenges and displays will be shared.

The SUPERPOWERED theme this year not only helps to further support the integration of coding and robotics in the mathematics and science curriculum, but also allows students to:

  • explore the theme of energy and how it is distributed, stored and used;
  • learn to design, build and program autonomous LEGO robots to complete missions on a themed playing field;
  • develop innovative solutions to a real-world problem related to energy and foster collaboration, communication and problem-solving skills.
