Please join us at NPSC for an interactive, fun and social evening of parent-focused education, titled, Family Connect Learning Symposium. The evening will consist of a series of interactive, specialist workshops where networking and topics of developing a Catholic Education, with an emphasis on parent-student engagement will be discussed. The following workshops will include:

1) Building Relationships, Supporting Resiliency and Promoting Positive Mental Health (with Trish Tessier, Manager of Student Support Services, Mental Health Lead, Nipissing Parry Sound Catholic District School Board)

This discussion-based session will focus on how parents can support resiliency skills in children through relationship building and the promotion of positive mental health strategies specific to their child’s stage of development. In particular, we will focus on building emotional literacy, recognizing and regulating big emotions and age-appropriate ways to effectively manage stress.

2) Harmony Within: Nurturing Spiritual Mental Health Through Prayer (with Father Joseph de Viveiros, C.R., Board Chaplain, Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board)

Explore where mental health and spiritual health meet in Prayer. We will examine several prayers that help us to self-regulate and find that place of peace and calm within us. For God is not just found in the heavens or places of worship. We are Temples of the Holy Spirit and God is also found within us.

3) Cyber Safety and Bullying Awareness (with Constable Al Bedard of the North Bay Police Service)

This workshop will provide parents with information to build capacity to safeguard children and youth from online harms. Learn about online risks and strategies for helping to keep kids safe online with Constable Al Bedard, North Bay City Police.
