St. Luke FIRST LEGO League Challenge

St. Luke School to Host FIRST® LEGO League Challenge Class Pack Fair
Posted on 06/13/2022

We are thrilled to be hosting our FIRST® LEGO League Challenge Class Pack Fair at St. Luke Catholic Elementary School!

New this year to NPSC classrooms, the FIRST® LEGO League Class pack program is a great option for teachers wanting to offer a high-quality, project-based-learning environment to their students while implementing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills. Guided by teachers through innovation and creativity, students develop an innovative solution to a real-world problem, and design, build, and code a LEGO® robot to solve themed challenge missions.

“The First Lego League Cargo Connect Challenge has really been an eye-opener for me as a junior/intermediate teacher.” Sue Korosec, teacher at St. Luke shares. “The conversations in the classroom are endless regarding what they are learning (e.g., coding, innovation projects). Furthermore, and most importantly, they have fun as they acquire these new, essential, transferable skills!”, Korosec added.

Peter Anello, Technology-Enabled Learning Facilitator for K-12, states: “With recently updated curriculum in Mathematics, Science and Technology that now includes computational thinking and coding skills, FIRST® Robotics Canada and Lego Education really hit it out of the park with this relevant and engaging program.  It is a priority for us as a system team to work collaboratively in expanding the awareness and availability of this program throughout our schools so that more students can showcase their innovation and creativity skills in a fun but meaningful project-based learning environment”.

Parents of St. Luke students and the media are invited to attend the fair, which will consist of two major elements: A section dedicated to group presentations of Innovation Projects, as well as a tournament-style Robot Challenge.
