Students and their families gathered at St. Luke Catholic Elementary School on September 17, 2026, for the school’s annual Open House and Catholic School Advisory Council (CSAC) BBQ, an opportunity to reconnect, meet school staff, explore classrooms, and celebrate the start of a new school year.

Held in a relaxed, drop-in format, the evening welcomed students, families, and staff for an informal opportunity to build connections and strengthen the relationships that support student success and well-being throughout the school year.

“The Open House and CSAC BBQ helps bring our school community together at the start of the year by creating opportunities for families to connect, build relationships, and engage with the school,” said Jennifer Rachmann, Principal. “It also allows students to proudly introduce their families to their teachers and new friends in a welcoming and relaxed setting.”

Families also enjoyed a community BBQ hosted by St. Luke’s CSAC and explored the Scholastic Book Fair. The strong turnout created a vibrant atmosphere throughout the school, with many families describing this year’s event as the most well-attended to date.

Family engagement plays an important role in helping students thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Events such as St. Luke’s annual Open House and BBQ help create a welcoming and inclusive school culture where students feel supported, families feel connected, and home-school partnerships contribute to positive student outcomes.

Throughout the fall, our NPSC schools will continue to engage with their parent communities in various ways to foster meaningful connections at the beginning of the school year.
