OLF Students Celebrate Olympic Spirit

Our Lady of Fatima Students Celebrate Olympic Spirit with School-Wide Event
Posted on 02/27/2026

As communities around the world reflect on the excitement and unity showcased during the recently concluded 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics, students at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Elementary School created their own moment of celebration and connection. Earlier in February, the school hosted an Olympic-inspired event that brought together students, staff, and players from the North Bay Battalion in the spirit of global friendship, teamwork, and cultural pride.

The celebration featured a school-wide assembly that transformed the gymnasium into an international stage — a vision brought to life through the leadership of Mrs. Erin Flichel, Mrs. Whitney Cerilli, and the school’s Catholic Leadership Team. Each class proudly represented an assigned country, parading around the gym as the sound of their chosen nation’s anthem played through the speakers. Smiling faces, vibrant colours, and the sound of cheering classmates created an atmosphere filled with excitement and unity.

The event encouraged students to reflect on what the Olympics represent and how this understanding shapes the way they learn, grow, and help one another.

To make the celebration even more memorable, students were joined by special guests from the North Bay BattalionPlayers shared in the Olympic spirit as they walked alongside each class during the parade and spoke to students about the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and supporting one another.

This celebration offered students an opportunity to experience the spirit of the Olympics firsthand, while emphasizing that respect, teamwork, and perseverance are as important in school communities as they are in sport. It was a meaningful way to come together, celebrate one another, and honour the values that guide learning in our Catholic schools.
