NPSC Celebrates the 2025 Director of Education and Barbara McCool Awards of Excellence Recipients with Mass and Ceremony

On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, over 100 Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) staff and community members gathered in St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Catholic Secondary School’s St. Lawrence Chapel to honour and celebrate the recipients of the Director of Education Award of Excellence in Catholic Education and the inaugural Barbara McCool Leadership Award in Special Education.
NPSC Board Chaplain Father Joseph de Viveiros, C.R., opened the evening with a wonderful Mass aligned with the Jubilee Year theme of Hope and the Catholic Education Week theme, Pilgrims of Hope. The themes' significance was profoundly reminiscent of the hope that each one of our celebrated staff members embody and promote in our Catholic school community.
Moreover, Father Joseph’s special homily, centered on the immeasurable and transformative power of gratitude, reflected the bright spirit and joyous atmosphere of the evening. Amplifying the Mass’ beauty were the stunning voices and delicate piano music of the NPSC Choir that reverberated throughout the chapel.
The ceremony’s procession, which honoured each award recipient individually, offered the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the remarkable service highlights of our caring and hardworking staff. The applause that resounded after every award presentation were echoes of the deep imprints they have left on their students, colleagues, and the entire NPSC community.
We extend our most sincere gratitude to our NPSC award recipients, families, and friends, whose collective celebration of the outstanding accomplishments of our staff made the event a most special and heartwarming evening.
Congratulations, once again, to our deserving Director of Education Award in Catholic Education and Barbara McCool Leadership Award in Special Education recipients! Your contributions to Catholic education are tremendously inspiring and impactful.
