Social Media Guidelines

Recognizing the importance of technology and communication in 21st century education, Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) is pleased to use social media to enhance and facilitate communication with students, parents, employees and community partners.

The Board recognizes the use of social media as a viable means to engage in meaningful discussions, promote the values based learning happening across the NPSC community and celebrate the successes of students and staff.

Terms of Use

Prior to engaging with NPSC on social media, individuals are expected to become familiar with the Board’s terms of use. As a Catholic school system, NPSC has specific expectations for students, staff and community members. All posts by NPSC will be informed by the Board’s mission: Rooted in Faith, Alive in Spirit. It is the responsibility of all individuals engaging on or with NPSC social media to adhere to the same code of conduct.

NPSC social media administrators will be available to monitor comments and post new content during regular business hours. Messages or questions posted outside of these hours will be addressed during the next business day.

NPSC encourages open and engaging conversation but asks that all individuals be respectful and keep posts relevant, positive and constructive. NPSC reserves the right to delete any comment / review, without notice and without providing reasons.

Posts will be deleted if they:

  • are spam or advertising
  • are clearly off-topic or disruptive
  • advocate illegal activity or cyberbullying
  • promote particular services, products or political organizations
  • infringe on copyrights or trademarks
  • violate any NPSC policies
  • breach the safety or privacy of any NPSC student or staff
  • use offensive language or are slanderous in nature
  • are otherwise deemed inappropriate

Individuals who are in violation of any of these guidelines could be banned from further visiting and contributing to the NPSC social media platforms.

NPSC uses its social media accounts for social networking and information dissemination purposes. Content and reviews posted or shared represent individual thoughts and beliefs and are separate from the opinions and beliefs of NPSC and those of its employees.

By submitting content and/or reviews, individuals are giving NPSC permission to use and distribute this content and/or review in NPSC’s print and online publications. Individuals participate at their own risk. Individuals are fully responsible for your username and the content / review they submit.
