Indigenous Education

Aanii . Welcome . Bonjour

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board is committed to improving and supporting Indigenous student success. Our goal is to ensure that our students develop a knowledge and appreciation of contemporary and traditional First Nation, Métis and Inuit traditions, history, culture and perspectives nourished by both the values of our Catholic faith and Seven Grandfather teachings. We work to equip students with the traditional and contemporary knowledge, skills, attitudes and confidence they require to be socially contributing, politically active and economically prosperous citizens of the world.

Improving Lifelong Opportunities for Indigenous Students

Our Board demonstrates its commitment to improve lifelong learning opportunities for Indigenous students and youth through providing communication and information about a voluntary and confidential First Nations, Métis and Inuit Self-Identification Policy to First Nation, Métis and Inuit families, communities and stakeholders. Throughout 2007-2008, a series of consultations occurred between our Board and Indigenous community partners and parents and guardians.
